The total operative time of a routine Lap Band surgery is generally between 20 and 30 minutes.
The above video shows a Lap Band fill. The Lap Band patient needs routine follow-up. This patient had a starting BMI of 38 and this is the 6 week post-op Lap Band visit. This is the first Lap Band fill for this patient. This is a simple fill done at the bedside using the Lap Band water fill technique. After I perform the Lap Band fill based on the pressure I feel on the syringe, I test the Lap Band fill by making the patient drink water. The Lap Band fill is titrated accordingly. An Inamed size 10 cm Lap Band was used and the maximum fill volume should not exceed roughly 4cc.
