I have created this page to help prospective and current patients educate themselves regarding the chronic disease of obesity and more specifically the Lap Band.
Although, I have scrubbed on hundreds of lap band and gastric bypass cases (both open and laparoscopic), I currently limit my practice to Lap Band Surgery only.
Whereas the technical ability of the surgeon to perform the operation is highly important, it is actually the aftercare/follow-up that is critically important in achieving your weight loss goals.
Do not be fooled into thinking that a "less expensive" lap band performed out of a resonable traveling distance of your geographic area for follow-up is a good option. In the end, you will end up spending more money, time, and energy getting quality follow-up. Most surgeons will not follow-up "internationally placed" Gastric Bands due to limitations of their malpractice insurance.
